About me.
Emerging Technologies | Researcher | ✍️ Blogger | 🎙 Podcaster | Content Creator
When I was in elementary school, I spent all of my free time playing with one of the Apple ][ computers that recently arrived at our school. Later, in high school, I had an Apple //e to myself at home and spent countless hours typing in programs from magazines and books. Like many kids of that era, I found something challenging and satisfying. By the time I was ready to apply to University, it was pretty clear that a Computer Science degree was in my future. While at University, I also achieved my Commercial Pilot License.
I have enjoyed working in the technology industry, learning new skills and platforms, consulting, and traveling. I have worked on massively distributed systems and smaller, but no less critical systems. Most of all, I enjoy creating content and prototypes to help others use technology to solve real problems. The ideation process is a particular interest of mine, and I enjoy finding ways for others to stretch outside their comfort zones.
I also co-host a podcast, XR SeaPod, and have a daily newsletter, The Technophile's Daily Gripe.
I am presently most interested in Augmented and Virtual Reality, collectively known as XR. In particular, I am following how the Web is moving from flat, 2D content, to immersive 3D experiences, aka WebXR. The transition from anlog to digital will take time. I have run a few ultramarathons and understand what it takes to succeed in the long term.
If you have a product or service, established or not, and are looking for someone to bridge the gap between technology and business in an empathetic way, I would like 15 minutes of your time and see if there is an opportunity to collaborate.
Thank you.
